How to Set Goals in Notion as a Working Woman (Without Overwhelming Yourself)
The simple way I organise my personal goals, wellness habits and everyday life in Notion while making time for work, rest and everything in between.
One thing I will always encourage women to do is have goals outside of work. Whether that's becoming stronger, learning a new skill, improving your finances, taking better care of yourself or finally starting something you've been dreaming about, I genuinely believe we should all have something we're working towards for ourselves.
But I also understand how difficult that can feel when you're working full-time.
You finish work, come home, make dinner, catch up on life admin and suddenly the evening is gone. Then the weekend arrives and you're trying to fit everything you didn't get around to doing during the week into two days.
And somewhere in between all of that, you're supposed to be building your dream life?
This is exactly why I've spent the last four years using Notion to organise my personal life.
Not because I want every hour scheduled or every habit tracked. Quite the opposite, actually. I want to spend less time figuring out what I need to do and more time enjoying the life I'm building.
My philosophy is simple: soft life, strong systems.
A little structure behind the scenes can make a huge difference to how much room you have for yourself.
Why I Use Notion to Organise My Personal Goals
I've always loved learning, dreaming about the future and working towards becoming a better version of myself. But I've also learned that having a vision and actually making it happen are two very different things.
You can have the most beautiful Pinterest mood board, save hundreds of inspirational videos and write down everything you want to achieve. But what happens after that?
That's the part I care about.
I've used the same Notion-based life system for four years because it gives me somewhere to turn those ideas into actions. As my life changes, my system changes with me.
When I was working in baking, I needed something that worked around early starts and physically demanding days. Now, as I build Wellness Glow Club and learn more about business and marketing, I can adapt that same foundation to my new goals.
That's what I love about digital life systems. You don't need to buy a new planner every time your life changes.
And you certainly don't need to start from zero every January.
Step 1: Start With Your Life, Not Your To-Do List
Before opening Notion and creating a hundred pages, I want you to ask yourself something.
What do you actually want your life to look like?
Not what your favourite influencer is doing. Not what everyone on TikTok is telling you to prioritise. What do you want?
This is where I believe most people get goal-setting wrong. They start collecting habits before understanding why they want them.
For example, you might want to improve your fitness. But does that mean you want to lift weights, take Pilates classes, go swimming, dance or simply walk more often?
There isn't one correct answer.
Your goals should reflect your personality, interests, circumstances and the life you genuinely want to live.
I recommend starting with a simple reflection page in Notion and answering three questions:
-
What areas of my life would I genuinely love to improve?
-
What have I been putting off because I believe I don't have time?
-
What would make my everyday life feel more fulfilling?
This is the beginning of building a system that actually belongs to you.
Step 2: Create Your Personal Goal Pillars in Notion
Rather than keeping one enormous list of goals, I prefer organising my life into different areas.
Think of these as your personal life pillars.
You could create a Notion page called My Life Goals and divide it into sections such as:
-
Wellness: Movement, nutrition, sleep and self-care.
-
Personal growth: Learning, confidence, journaling and new experiences.
-
Career and finances: Professional development, savings and business ideas.
-
Lifestyle: Travel, hobbies, friendships, style and experiences.
You don't need to work on every area at once.
The purpose of having these categories is to see your life as a whole, rather than letting work become the centre of everything.
Because you're not just an employee. You're a woman with your own dreams, interests and ambitions.
Step 3: Turn Your Vision Board Into Actual Goals
I love a beautiful vision board. I love making my Notion dashboard aesthetic and personal. I genuinely find that having a space I enjoy opening makes me more excited to use it.
But the vision board isn't what changes your life.
It's what you keep doing after you close Pinterest.
Let's say one of your goals is to become stronger this year.
Instead of simply adding a picture of a woman at Pilates to your dashboard, create an actual goal in Notion.
| Goal detail | Example |
|---|---|
| Life pillar | Wellness |
| Main goal | Build strength and enjoy movement |
| Weekly action | Two strength sessions and one fun movement session |
| Time needed | 20–40 minutes per session |
| Progress check | Monthly reflection |
You can do this with any goal.
Want to learn marketing? Set aside two short learning sessions each week.
Want to improve your finances? Schedule a monthly money review.
Want to read more? Keep a book on your bedside table and read for ten minutes.
The key is making your goals small enough to fit into your actual life.
Step 4: Build a Notion Dashboard You'll Actually Want to Open
This is my favourite part.
Your Notion dashboard should feel like your own little corner of the internet. Somewhere you can dream, plan, reflect and see the different parts of your life coming together.
You can create a simple homepage with links to your goals, weekly plans, wellness habits, journal and vision board.
it doesn't need a complicated system with twenty databases to get started. Neither do you.
If you're building your dashboard from scratch, start with just four pages:
My Goals: Your life pillars, current goals and small actions.
My Week: A simple view of appointments, responsibilities and personal priorities.
My Wellness: Movement ideas, meal inspiration and self-care habits.
My Journal: A space to reflect on your thoughts, experiences and progress.
Notion allows you to use pages, databases, checkboxes and different views, so you can keep your setup as simple or detailed as you like.
And if you enjoy making things pretty, add your favourite colours, images, icons and mood boards.
Aesthetics can make planning more enjoyable. They just shouldn't become more work than the goals themselves.
Step 5: Find Your 10-Minute Pockets
This is something I'm particularly passionate about.
I hear so many women say they don't have time to work on themselves. And I understand that some seasons of life are genuinely demanding.
But I also believe we sometimes overlook the smaller opportunities available to us.
Ten minutes before work. Twenty minutes after dinner. Half an hour on a quieter afternoon.
Those moments count.
I've intentionally made more room in my mornings by waking up a little earlier. I love being able to get ready in peace, sit down to eat breakfast and enjoy my coffee without feeling like I'm racing against the clock.
That time didn't magically appear. I made a change because it mattered to me.
The same approach works with your goals.
You don't need to dedicate your entire evening to self-improvement. Sometimes it's enough to open your Notion dashboard, check your goals and choose one small thing to work on.
And sometimes the best use of that time is doing something fun.
Your life shouldn't become one giant self-improvement project.
Step 6: Have a Weekly Meeting With Yourself
One of my favourite habits is what I call The Daily Meeting With Yourself, a simple practice of checking in with your thoughts, experiences and the woman you're becoming.
You can apply that same philosophy to a weekly reset.
Once a week, open your Notion dashboard and spend around 10–15 minutes reflecting.
Ask yourself:
-
What went well this week?
-
What felt overwhelming or unnecessary?
-
Did I make time for something I genuinely enjoyed?
-
What small action would help me move towards my goals next week?
This is where the real growth happens.
You begin noticing patterns. Maybe you're planning too much for your evenings. Maybe you keep putting off movement because you've chosen a type of exercise you don't enjoy. Or maybe you're doing well and simply need to keep going.
Reflection gives you an opportunity to make changes before weeks turn into months of repeating the same habits.
And please remember, missing a day doesn't mean you've failed.
Your system should be something you can return to, not something that makes you feel guilty for having a life.
Why I Believe Every Working Woman Deserves a Personal Life System
I don't believe you need Notion specifically to become more organised. A notebook, calendar or free notes app can be a wonderful starting point.
What I do believe is that every woman deserves somewhere to hold her dreams, thoughts and plans outside of her working responsibilities.
We spend so much of our lives showing up for work, meeting deadlines and making sure everything else gets done. I want women to bring some of that intention into their own lives too.
Not to achieve more every single day.
But to make sure they're not constantly postponing the things that matter to them.
For me, Notion has become that space. It's where I can dream about my future, make practical plans, reflect on my progress and keep building a life that feels like mine.
And after four years, I still genuinely enjoy using it.
